In this one year project I worked together with Paulina, Simon, Shauna and Julia to create a multidisciplinary performance. Transform arts was my first collaborative art project. It meant a lot for me and for my identity as an artist. All my team members had experience of performing on stage and are at least to a certain extent used to be called artists. For me it was as much about redefining myself as it was about creating a collaborative performance. I am still looking for ways of giving my creativity enough space while having another source of income, and since 30 work hours per week are still dedicated to my other job, it is a slow process. However, I learned that I am not alone in this.

Transform arts had everything I wanted: a group of passionate and talented artists, an idea/plot that I was happy to support and an amazing teamwork. None of us really had experience of such interdisciplinary job-creation, but we did well.

Speaking about my painting, I was looking for something that would meet the idea (being an active part of the performance and not just a backdrop) but also corresponding to a small budget. I am still very much an analog painter, so I went with an idea of built in paper flaps. These flaps can be opened and closed during the performance. Since I created this art piece on 36 double sided sheets of A4 paper, we were able to fold the resulting straps so the art piece would be changing and “participating” in the art performance.
